Tomato and Fig Jam Upside Down Tarts

These delectable Tomato and Fig Jam Upside Down Tarts are perfect for your holiday season - an easy, delicious appetizer that can comes together in 20 minutes.

Tomato and Fig Jam Upside Down Tarts!

a.k.a THE holiday appetizer that has one hell of an ‘it’ factor…

Imagine strutting into a holiday party and someone handing you a warm upside down tart that is oozing with figgy jammy sweetness, blistered tomatoes, and creamy brie, all atop buttery puffed pastry…umm yes please someone give me the address to that party!

The beauty of this recipe lies in the complex flavors that elevate this very simple recipe.

The earthiness from the fig jam compliments the sweet notes of Sunset’s Sugar Bomb tomatoes.

When roasted, these tomatoes reveal a softer sweetness that is contrasted by the rich butteriness from the brie cheese.

Fig, Tomato and Brie come together to create a pairing that is truly a match made in flavor heaven.

And honestly you guys, this recipe is SO fun to make!

If you have kids (or nieces like me), you can get them into the holiday spirit and create new memories by making these delectable upside down tarts. And for the kiddos, they kind of look like mini (yet super elevated) pizzas ;)

Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

Holiday Appetizer - Tomato and Fig Jam Upside Down Tarts

Makes 6 tarts

1 puff pastry packet, cut into 6 rectangles

6 tbsp fig jams

12 Sunset Flavor Bomb Tomatoes, cut in half

6 slices of Brie cheese

Fresh basil

1 egg, beaten

Preheat the oven to 400F.

On a parchment paper lined baking tray, start assembling your tarts by adding a dollop of fig jam and spreading it out into a row about 2 inches long.

In a row, place the sliced tomatoes cut side down, on top of the fig jam.

Then top with a thick slice of brie cheese.

Add the puff pastry on top to cover and push the four edges down, so that it seals in the ingredients.

Brush the top of the puff pastry with the egg wash. Repeat 5 more times.

Pop into the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Once it has cooked, wait for it to cool and then flip the tart over, add some basil leaves and enjoy!
