Pomegranates are a beautiful ruby red fruit that gives the most delicious sweet and tart flavor! Pomegranate seeds are one of my favorite foods to add on top of many dishes. I love the addition of pomegranate seeds to fresh salads, warm oatmeal, sprinkled on roasted vegetables and atop creamy smoothie bowls. They have a way of waking up any dish with a refreshing pop of sweetness!
Feeling: like your skin is not protected?
Pomegranates are packed with antioxidants, ellagic acid, which helps limit the damage of UV rays to your skin (caused by sun exposure). They also protect the skin against free radicals and increases collagen production.
· Just half a cup of pomegranates have 17% of your daily intake of Vitamin C! This boosts the immune system and maintains production of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin help keep your skin toned and firm!
· Pomegranates are filled with soluble and insoluble dietary fibers, providing 4g per half cup. This smooths digestion and normalizes bowel movements.
· The vitamin C in pomegranate seeds enhances iron absorption. Iron is found in kidney beans, lentils, dried apricots, broccoli, and potatoes just to name a few. When you eat these foods alongside pomegranates or any food high in vitamin C, you will increase your iron intake! Iron is an oxygen carrier, which is essential as every cell in our body needs oxygen to function optimally!
