Hey guys! This Saturday's post is a little untraditional since it's just a one-shot photo recipe post. I posted this photo on instrgam a week ago, without any intention of a blog post, but you guys went a little nuts - in the very best way possible - for the recipe! So I wanted to do you right and hand over the super simple recipe. I've talked a bit on IG about how my goals for 2016 are focused around movement. For the past 4 months, I've been waking up an hour early to workout. Since the start of the year my smoothies have evolved into more of a post-workout smoothie meal. For me, this includes adding a bit more nutrients and protein to each one. So within this smoothie you'll find spinach, plant-based protein powder (which I couldn't recommend more) and coconut yogurt. I've added these ingredients with the intention of fueling my body with enough protein and nutrients to count as a complete meal.
As with every recipe in this space, I encourage you to make it your own! If you haven't workout today, no worries, just leave out the protein powder (or add less) and throw in a few frozen berries to the mix. Or try a few of the other smoothie recipes recommended below if you want a more traditional approach to smoothie making.
Enjoy you guys and happy weekend!
Prep Time: 2 minutes | Cook Time: 2 minutes
Ingredients for the Post-Workout Green Smoothie:
- 1/2 cup coconut yogurt (or anyone you like)
- 1/2 cup almond milk (or water if you don't have any)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 handful of spinach leaves
- 1 scoop of Super Elixir Green Mix (or any plant-based protein mix you have)
- 1/2 ice cubes
Simply blend all the ingredients into a blender until creamy! Top with anything you'd like!
Have you guys tried green smoothies before? What are your favorite flavor combinations? Do you add in plant-based protein powders too?
