The smoothie - ask anyone and they’ll have quite the personalized version of how to prepare it to their liking. In a bowl or a glass, with toppings or kept minimal, only fruit or added vegetables. The only constant is how completely customizable its become. For me, I’ve fallen deep into the smoothie bowl category. Pour all the fruit and coconut water you can get into a blender and seconds later you’ve got yourself quite the satisfying meal.

The beautiful thing about smoothies is that no fancy juice press is needed, only a blender. It also calls for very little clean up, a win-win! For those mornings we find ourselves reaching for the snooze button, a quick and delicious breakfast is much appreciated. It’s the ideal spring breakfast, weekend snack or light lunch. This smoothie oozes with vibrant flavors from tart cherries to sweet strawberries. Throw in a few dates at the end to add a caramel touch.

Turn the smoothie bowl into a satiating meal by adding an abundance of fiber rich toppings - nuts, seeds, fresh fruit, goji and mulberries, chia seeds or coconut shreds. Toppings are a great way to inadvertently chew your smoothie. You always want to chew your smoothie – this signals the body to kickstart the digestive process. Whichever way its constructed, sans toppings or with, smoothies are a delightful snack, making every morning a bit more exciting, especially during the work week :)
