Hi everyone, I'm beyond excited to introduce a new section to the blog with you! As a lot of you guys know, via Instagram, I kind of have a slight addiction to travel (and an obsession with moving back to Europe!) and wanted a place within this space to share stores, pictures, inside tips and local eateries of our favorite destinations.
I'm always looking for new places to travel to with insightful tips from fellow travelers who've explored the area. So with that I've started off this series with one of my favorite places - Maui, Hawaii. I would also love to invite all of you to share your favorite places and tips with our community! Every Wednesday I will be featuring a new destination so if you'd like to be featured just follow the few steps at the end of the post.
Escape to: Maui, Hawaii
Name: Marie R.
From: San Francisco, CA
Favorite Neighborhood: Paia - This is by far my favorite spot on Maui. It has the local feel and is tucked away from the main tourist spots with small eateries and local shops to browse through.
Favorite Local Hangout: Makawao - This is another town that has a similar feel to Paia. It's very Hawaiian with only one low key coffee shop with live music, to die for bakeries and even chicken and roosters walking along the streets with you.
Best Eatery: For casual, my all time favorite is Paia Fish House. This spot has the BEST fish tacos I’ve ever had in my life. For fancier, I just love Mala. They have a delicious edemame dip (which inspired my recipe, here), local-freshly caught fish and the best part is that you are literally eating on the water. There were even turtles on the sand where our table was one year!
Don’t Miss: Snorkeling in Black Rock at Kaanapali Beach or hiking to the base of Haleakala – unreal!
Hidden Gem: My favorite thing about Maui is a trip I always do with my mom, dad and sister. We wake up before the sunrise and drive 1 hour to Makawao, enjoy the freshly filled guava Malasadas/donuts (gotta indulge every once in awhile) and then have a coffee at Casanova (the one that has live music and always intriguing conversations with locals). Every time I think of this little day trip, and how relaxing the drive through the sugar cane fields are, I remember just how special Maui really is.
I hope you guys love this section as much as I do! I just adore finding new places to travel to and visit - I have what feels like a 1,000 new places to add to the list and I'm sure you do to!
HOW TO JOIN:
