This homemade hot chocolate is perfect for these chilly winter nights! Hot chocolate is such a holiday drink and this healthy version tastes even better with creamy almond milk and raw cacao powder! I used to love drinking the packaged hot chocolate mixes as a kid but I swear this is just as easy and much more delicious and healthy! The homemade almond milk blends perfectly with the rich, chocolaty cacao, sweet honey and warm cinnamon spice. Cacao is an incredible food that is filled with nutrients, and coupled with all the goodness from the almond milk, makes for the best excuse to drink hot chocolate all day long! I’ve been drinking this nonstop for the last week and each time it leaves me feeling soothed and relaxed. It’s the perfect way to end a long day.
Raw cacao powder tastes even richer than its cocoa counterpart. Raw cacao is the unprocessed form of chocolate and is a great source of serotonin! This helps our brain produce the ‘feel-good’ hormones, allowing us to feel a sort of high or euphoric sensation when we eat foods with cacao powder. Aside from making us feel fantastic while satisfying a chocolate craving, cacao is also filled with flavonoids and essential minerals and vitamins that help to lower blood pressure, thus improving blood flow. I hope you get a chance to enjoy this hot chocolate and drink up all its wonderful health benefits!
